Introduction to Queen Latifah End of the Road Netflix Movie Review

 

From the title of the film, you will  probably come to the conclusion that Queen Latifah's End of the Road Netflix movie involves a family traveling by car and maybe coming in contact with angry drivers. I envision the movie would be about Queen Latifah’s family being followed, taken hostage and finally getting away.

 

However, the plot has just a little more substance than your usual road rage type movie. To make a long story short, stolen money is involved.

 

Did I enjoy watching Queen Latifah's End of the Road Netflix movie? More importantly, do I think you will  enjoy watching it?

Plot of Queen Latifah End of the Road Netflix Movie

 

As I alluded to earlier, stolen money is involved in the storyline of Queen Latiifah End of the Road movie. The film starts with two bad guys in the desert picking up money from a drug deal for their drug boss. One decides he wants to keep all the money for himself, so he destroys his accomplice.

 

Meanwhile Queen Latifah’s character (Brenda) is making a long drive from the house she is selling since her husband is now deceased –  to live with relatives. In the car with her are her son, daughter and brother, Reggie played by Ludacris.

They are traveling in an area that is not too friendly to her family. That being said, she manages to get out of having an altercation with some truckers who her daughter had openly rejected. 

 

 After Queen Latifah’s character manages to leave the truckers behind, she finds out that her brother, Ludacris' character, had taken a duffle bag full of drug money.

 

How? Prior to the family resuming their road trip, they made a stop at a motel. During their stay,  they hear arguments and a gunshot from the room next to theirs. Queen Latifha’s character who is also a nurse brought it upon herself to investigate what was going on along with her brother.

 

To make a long story short, the victim was the bad guy who had taken the drug money for himself at the beginning of the storyline. Once the police are called, they resume their road trip.

 

Taking Stolen Money - The Focus of the Queen Latifah End of the Road Netflix Movie

 

Ludacris' character made it known to Queen Latifah’s character that the family would be in a better financial position soon because he had taken the duffle bag full of money. Queen Latifah, after expressing surprise that he took the money, dutifully returned the money back to the motel – only to be contacted by the owner of the drug money stating that he knew they had taken the money.

 

Another resident of the motel happened to notice and steal the money, right at the time when Queen Latifah's character was going to retrieve the money to return it. Miraculously, Queen Latifah's character was able to retrieve the duffle bag from the woman.

 

To cut to the chase, there were a lot of back and forth actions dealing with the taking of the stolen money. In the midst of this, Queen Latifiah’s son was kidnapped and used as ransom for the return of the money.

 

 

 

 

Realism in Queen Latifah End of the Road Netflix Movie

 

One of the movie scenes show where Queen Latifah's character defeated several men who had previously held her captive after they confiscated the bag of money. Queen Latifah defeating a number of burly men would have been more believable if there was a scene somewhere in the movie showing how she managed to beat up these men, maybe by showing her at the gym training, etc.

 

After the big fight between the men and Queen Latifah’s character in which she got the upper hand, they lost interest in keeping the money, especially when they found out the money belonged to a feared drug dealer.

 

Suspicious Character GIveaway in Queen Latifah End of the Road Netflix Movie

 

Spoiler Alert: The storyline tried to hide the fact that a certain sheriff was involved with the stolen money.  However, there is a scene in the movie where Ludacris' character and Queen Latifah’s character's daughter were in the car with the sheriff and he made a comment to the effect that their safety was his number one priority. I perceived these words as red flags because they seemed so out of place, especially given their location and how they had been treated previously in this particular area of the country.

 

 

Assessment of Queen Latifah End of the Road Netflix Movie

 

There were no stand out acting skills displayed during the Queen Latifah End of the Road movie by any of the actors. There were opportunities for Queen Latifah to show off her acting skills especially when she found out that her son was kidnapped. Sadly, she did not do so.

 

 In my opinion, there was no sense of danger during this movie, because the storyline had already set up the premise that whatever happened, Queen Latfah’s character would handle it.

 

In a nutshell, the storyline was predictable, and to add insult to injury, the ending of the movie set a poor example of what to do with money that someone knows does not belong to them.

 

If you are a fan of Queen Latifah or for some other reason, you may choose to watch Queen Latiah End of the Road Netflix movie; however, as for me, I will not be rewatching this film any time soon.
