Corpse Party is on the list of top ten horror video games.

With Halloween and its betwitching hours just around the corner, now is the optimal time to provide you a list of the top ten horror video games.  The top ten  will be listed in two parts in no particular order -- the first five  in Part 1 and the second five in Part 2. 

This list of top ten horror video games  is based on someone's opinion, so the most scariest video game you have played may or may not be on the list.  The source is  DePaul University's student newspaper.

Here are five of the top horror video games followed by a description.

1. Corpse Party -- A group of high school friends say goodbye to one of their friends who is leaving and their charms go wrong.

2.  Silent Hill -- James Sutherland receives an invitation from his deceased wife to return to Silent Hill.

3.Resident Evil 6 --  This game centers around a group of police officers investigating a helicopter crash.

4. The Suffering -- In this game a criminal has been given a life sentence for a horrid crime.

5.  System Shock -- This is a PC game where the gameplay involves a space station that has been taken over by an alien

infection, destroying most of the crew and leaving others as zombie-like creatures or the undead.

BioShock Infinite

Irrational Games and 2K have announced the BioShock Infinite special editions.  Outside of the standard edition, there will be a  Premium Edition as well as the Ultimate Songbird Edition.

These editions do not come empty-handed.  With the Preimium Edition, you will receive a 5" x 7" lithograph by  Jorge Lacera, a mini art book full of BioShock  Infinite concept art and commentary, a 3" key chain of Crows vigor bottle replica, a 25 mm resin cast handyman character from the upcoming board game, as well as digital goodies such as in-game gear, digital soundtrack, platform specific dowloadable content which includes avatar costumes for the Xbox 360 game and themes for the PlayStation 3 and the PC games.

BioShock Infinite

For the Ultimate Songbird Edition, in addition to the above, you will also receive a 9.5" statue of Bioshock's songbird.  The songbird statue, the handyman statue and Crows keychain will come in separate custom packaging.

 You may preorder BioShock Infinite beginning October 22, 2012.  The vioeo game will launch on February 16, 2013.

Minecraft 1.4 update release delayed until October 25, 2012

Minecraft is a free first person Indie PC game.

Due to "bugs" in the Minecraft video game 1.4 update, Mojang will be delaying the release date by one day.  The original release date was October, 24, 2012; however you can expect to receive the update on October 25, 2012 instead.

The bugs in the update involved  a problem that caused the mobs to suffocate, and fall through wooden floors.   Other glitches included Redstone Repeaters staying on permanently, bats spawning too often, and the wolves looking too scary.

The l.4 update has been dubbed  the "Pretty Scary" update and is being released in time for Halloween.  In this update, you will see new monsters, witches, zombies and skeletons. Additionally, you will have anvils for repairs during gameplay, as well as new decorative items, better villagers A.I., and easier mod downloading.

If you do not want to wait until October 25, 2012 for the official release, pre-releases of the update are available right now online.

IGN is up for auction

Media giant, News Corp. is putting IGN Entertainment along with its other video game sites up for auction after failing to sell the businesses in a private sale.  News Corp. paid  $650 million for the entertainment network in 2005 and  is expecting to receive $100 million from the auction -- as reported by the Wall Street Journal.  The Wall Street Journal, by the way is also owned by News Corp.

News  Corp. is trying to divest itself of its network of video games and pop culture sites.  Digital content providers who have already expressed interest in the auction are  Break Media, SAY Media as well as private equity firms.

News Corp.. is not a stranger to selling its assets, sometimes at a loss as it is doing with this auction.  Last year News Corp  sold My Space for  $35 million, after paying $580 million for the social networking site in 2005.

This auction is preceded by the departure of top executives including IGN president, Roy Bahat -- who worked more than a year to try to sell the division; and the resignation of News Corp. digital chief  Jonathan Miller who failed to revive MySpace.

It is likely that IGN and the other sites on the entertainment network will live on under new ownership/management as a result of the auction.   Time will tell. The  auction effort is being handled by the bank, Allen  & Co.  Auction specifics,i.e., date/time/place were unavailable at press time.

Grand Theft Auto V video game is in development.

Have you ever played a video game and thought of gameplay or features that would add to its excitement, challenge or overall enjoyment of the game?  If that video game happened to be a previous version of Grand Theft Auto, then you are in for a treat.

Rockstar Games has announced that the company would like your input to Grand Theft Auto V.   The game's release date has been hidden in a shroud of mystery for some time, with many wondering if  the game will ever be released.

On the other hand, some are speculating that the game may be close to being launched since Rockstar is petitioning for your input.   However, this is not a given.

With the  above being said, here's how to  share your comments, suggestions, ideas, etc. with Rockstar Games for  Grand Theft Auto V. If accepted, your input may be included in the multiplayer version of the game.

Rockstar Games is specifically asking for your input on the Crews in the game.

According to Rockstar Games, "Whether it's suggestions for competitive in-game Crew features in Multiplayer, new ways to manage and recruit, ideas for enhancing Social Club Crew pages and leaderboards, things you did and didn't like about Crews in Max Payne 3, or any thoughts at all related to Crews really that you'd like to share -- we're all ears.  We'd especially love to hear from current Crew members and leaders so that we can continue making our unique approach to persistent team based Multiplayer as fun as it can be in GTAV."
