Introduction to the Little Movie Review by Ms. H

You may have seen other films with a similar premise as the Little movie.  For example “13 Going on 30” and I’m sure many others. This movie seemed to focus on how an adolescent would act if she had the mind of an adult -- and retained the resemblance someone much younger.

Cast of Characters in the Little Movie

For the most part, the actors played their roles adequately.  However, no one actor stood out to me. For example, when I watched the movie “Girls Trip” it was obvious that Tiffany Haddish was the stand-out comedic actor.  I did not notice such a person in this movie. Bottom line, neither Regina Hall who played the older Jordan Sanders nor Marsai Martin who played the role of the younger Jordan Sanders made an impression on me.

Plot of the Little Movie

Plain and simple, the plot centers around adventures encountered by a woman when she was temporarily transformed to a teenager while her mind and actions were those of an adult.  This movie reminded me slightly of the movie I mentioned earlier, as well as the Prada movie starring Meryl Streep. However, if I compared the two movies, Prada would rank higher due to its realism and entertainment value. By contrast, the LIttle movie was more preachy” instead of entertaining.

Holes in Actions of the Little Movie

Of course, the Little movie is a made-up or fabricated story of actions and events, so it’s easy to notice some inconsistencies in the movie. Some of the most obvious moments happened when the main character transitioned from an adult to a teen and vice versa. For example, if the adult is walking around as a teenager, wouldn’t she notice her shoes did not fit?  Also, it's interesting to me how she could still wear the same clothes of someone with a a shorter stature when she changed back to an adult. Spoiler Alert: Case in point -- at the end of the movie, the adult Jordan Sanders wore the exact same sweater decorated with pictures of shoes and sunglasses as the teenager.

Fashion in the Little Movie

A fail in the film in my opinion was the choice of clothing chosen for some of the characters in the movie. Whoever dressed some of the characters could use a lesson from the fashion people on the movie set of the "What Men Want" starring Taraji P. Henson as well as other similar type movies.  Of the many fashion disasters, the biggest I think was the choice of shoes as well as the pink suit chosen for Marsai Martin who plays the younger Jordan Sanders. Spoiler alert:  Towards the end of the movie, the fashion people seemed to give up completely on fashion and dressed the star of the movie, Regina Hall simply in a black sweatshirt and black pants.

Moral of the LIttle Movie

If you watch the Little film, you may have thoughts  about the lesson the movie was trying to teach rather than the story line. This is not a bad thing, but I think the overarching reason for going to or watching movies is to be entertained or informed in some way.  There were a few entertaining parts in the movie -- mostly happening with impromptu singing and dancing -- but for the most part, the movie dwelled on maturity vs. immaturity.

Assessment of the Little Movie

I am on the fence about recommending that you watch the Little movie.  You may experience a few laugh out loud moments or maybe not. I think the movie was ok, but not one that I would necessarily rush out to see. A plus is the movie has a running time of only 1 hour, 49 minutes -- so if you decide to watch the movie Little, it should not take up too much of your time.

Rating of the Little Movie

Based on a rating of 1 star to 5 stars, with 5 stars being the highest, I rate the LIttle movie 3 stars.
