Introduction to Nobody’s Fool Movie Review by Ms. H
If you are familiar with the comedienne/actor Tiffany Haddish, you may know that one of her catchphrases is “She ready”-- short for “She’s ready.” And I must say -- she was ready for this movie. If Tiffany Haddish was not in Nobody’s Fool, it would have been one of those movies you wait to go to DVD or to a streaming service.
My major complaint about the movie was the recurring profanity as well as the repeated use of a word that I think should not have been used throughout the movie. Other than that, if you are 17 years old or older, you may want to check out this movie which is rated R.
Storyline of the Nobody’s Fool Movie
From the movie previews, you probably already know this film involves the prospect of Tika Sumpter’s character being catfished. Catfished for those who may not know is when someone pretends to be someone else online which is sometimes vastly different than who they are in real life. The neat part of this movie is they had the actual hosts from the Catfish television show in the movie.
For the most part, the synopsis of Nobody’s Fool is one that has been played many times in numerous movies before. What really saved the movie was Tiffany Haddish's performance including I’m sure some of her own improvisations and comedic exaggerations that she added to the story.
Tiffany Haddish’s Girls Trip Character is Back on the Nobody’s Fool Movie
The Nobody’s Fool film of course is a different movie from Girls Trip. GIrls Trip is the movie that put Tiffany Haddish’s name on the map. Tiffany Haddish in the role of Tanya, used a lot of her mannerisms and actions that got her noticed on Girls Trip in the movie Nobody’s Fool. It’s not surprising to me that according to Tiffany Haddish, Tyler Perry wrote a part especially for her in this movie. It’s too bad that he fell back on the “coming out of jail” scenario instead of using some other storyline which would have shown some creativity on his part. By the way, this movie was written and directed by Tyler Perry.
Other Characters in the Nobody’s Fool Movie
If you watch the Nobody’s Fool film, you will notice there are other noteworthy actors in the movie -- in addition to Tiffany Haddish. For example the main focus of the storyline is Tika Sumpter who played the role of Danica -- Tiffany Haddish’s sister. Whoopi Goldberg played the part of the sisters’ mother and Amber Riley had the role Danica's coworker/best-friend. There were also male actors which included Omari Hardwick and Mehcad Brooks who were Danica’s romantic interests.
Spoiler Alert: There is a surprise comedian in the movie which I will not divulge -- just in case you decide to see the movie. Suffice it to say, with the exception of the fire catastrophe part of the scene -- this a humorous short sketch that may make you laugh.
That being said, whenever Tiffany Haddish did not appear in a movie scene -- the action seemed to drag. During those times, I felt like it was intermission at a theater and I was waiting for Tiffany Haddish to return. In my opinion, she not only carried the movie -- but she made the movie worth watching -- sans all the profanity and other inappropriate words she used during the movie.
Assessment of the Nobody’s Fool Movie
I think this movie would have been more enjoyable to watch without the addition of the profanity and other inappropriate words used. Additionally, a negative is the movie is predictable, with no suspense. The positive was Tiffany Haddish’s comedic performance in the movie. Spoiler Alert: There is a slight twist during the latter part of the movie.
Speaking for myself -- all I want to see is an entertaining movie without all of the shock language. Even though I think this is one of Tiffany Haddish's best films -- behind Girls Trip -- due to the foul and inappropriate language, I will have to give the Nobody’s Fool movie a low rating.
Rating of Nobody’s Fool Movie
Based on a rating of 1 star to 5 stars, with 5 stars being the best, I rate the Nobody’s Fool movie 2 1/4 stars.
