Introduction to Ant-Man and the Wasp Movie Review by Ms. H
I planned to see Ant-Man and the Wasp ever since I saw the movie preview and trailers. Marvel movies do not disappoint -- so I was ready to sit back, relax and enjoy Ant-Man and the Wasp. Did I enjoy this movie? Read on to find out.
Cast of Ant-Man and the Wasp Movie
Of course, actor Paul Rudd is back as Ant-Man. He casts well in this role, so I knew he would return. I wasn’t sure how adding the Wasp as a character would play out, but it looks like Evangeline Lilly did ok in this role. That being said, I think the Wasp needs to be less serious. It didn’t help that there didn’t seem to be any on-screen chemistry between the two -- in my opinion. Regarding the rest of the cast -- Michael Douglas is back as well as other new actors to the movie.
Storyline of Ant-Man and the Wasp Movie
Ant-Man and the Wasp’s storyline kept my interest. The movie involves quite a few characters -- one in particular that may surprise you. There are plenty of comedic lines and situations in Ant-man and the Wasp, including humorous physical acts as well. In some instances, you may find yourself laughing out loud or at least smiling.
If you prefer action instead of comedy, there are many action scenes in Ant-Man and the Wasp movie as well. Some of the scenes are made possible by the use of Computer Generated Imagery (CGI), which is par for the course for Marvel movies. If you are not interested in the comedy or action in the Ant-Man and the Wasp movie, then you will probably enjoy how the elements of the story pans out.
Caution: Even though Ant-Man and the Wasp is rated PG-13, there are some violent fight scenes and fast moving action that may not be appropriate for children; however, these scenes were not graphic and did not take away from my rating for this movie.
Assessment of Ant-Man and the Wasp Movie
I found the Ant-Man and the Wasp movie to be worth my time and money. Yes -- money. Even though I used my MoviePass, I paid an additional $1.50. When I asked why at the ticket counter, I was informed this was one of those “big” movies where you pay sort of a surcharge or a fee along with using your MoviePass card. I jokingly told the ticket counter person that I would report this fee in my movie review. She said I should mention that the movie studios (Disney) -- not the movie theater (Regal) requested this fee. lol
However, if I did not have a MoviePass, I would have paid full price to see Ant-Man and the Wasp movie anyway. Bottom line -- I enjoyed watching the movie and to me, the movie was entertaining. To be clear -- this movie had to grow on me as I watched and it got better as it progressed.
Rating of Ant-Man and the Wasp Movie
Based on a rating of 1 star to 5 stars, with 5 stars being the highest, I rate Ant-Man and the Wasp movie 4 ½ stars.
