Introduction to The Mule Movie Review by Ms. H
I was on the fence about seeing the Clint Eastwood movie, The Mule, mainly because it’s been awhile since I’ve seen one and did not know what to expect. I’m glad to reveal that The Mule did not disappoint. If you see The Mule movie, you may not observe high speed chases, running scenes, fights, explosions, etc., but a human interest movie that you may not mind watching -- just as I did. As a note - The Mule movie is rated R so you must be 17 years of age or older to see it unless accompanied by parents or guardians.
Plot of The Mule Movie
From The Mule’s movie trailer, you will probably determine the plot has a certain criminal element involving drugs and the drug cartel. Nothing mysterious here. However, during the film, you get to know most of Clint Eastwood’s movie family as well as the people involved in attempting to track him down.
Reality Check for The Mule Movie
If you watch The Mule movie from beginning to end, you may notice at least two instances where the criminals feign a hint of concern for Clint Eastwood’s character, Earl Stone. Even though the film is based on true events -- it is those scenarios that may be questionable, given the criminal nature of the people he was dealing with. However, to make the movie dramatic and probably to hold interest and in order to appeal to the empathy of the audience for Clint Eastwood’s character -- I believe the truth was stretched a bit in these segments.
Main Point of The Mule Movie
You may come away from this movie absorbing several messages, including the one that is voiced in the trailer from The Mule movie. I think delivering a message(s) to the audience was the gist of the movie, instead of showing action scenes etc. which were nonexistent. In fact, looking back on the movie, I do not recall any action scenes. Additionally and in hindsight, the movie seemed to be rather slow-moving. However, while I was at The Mule movie, there was enough suspense and storytelling involved that felt I was not wasting my time watching it. You may feel the same as well.
Assessment of The Mule Movie
I believe The Mule movie shows that “good movies” come in many forms -- sometimes in the way of comedies, action/adventures, docudramas, etc. Regarding comedy -- there was a section where the movie audience laughed, but for the most part, the movie tells a story of a man’s involvement in criminal activity and his regrets.
Rating of The Mule Movie
Based on a rating of 1 star to 5 stars with 5 stars being the highest, I rate The Mule movie 4 ¾ stars.
