God of War: Ascension
New life has been breathed in the God of War video game franchise with an announcement of a prequel coming in Spring 2013 by game director, Todd Papy of Sony. If you played God of War 3, you may have seen an ending teaser that gave you the impression the series was far from over. You were correct in your assessment that another God of War (4) is eminent; however the new video game may be a surprise to you.

Instead of continuing the saga, the new God of War video game appears to be a prequel to the trilogy where Kratos, the main protagonist, will experience adventures before he became the legendary Ghost of Sparta. Even though the specific details of the God of War: Ascension are not revealed at this time, information about the time-frame, etc. of the game can be determined by the narration of the titan Gaia in the trailer.
The time period of the game has been described as "a time when something other than rage consumed him."

God of War: Ascension currently has a release date of Spring 2013, and will be playable exclusively on the PlayStation 3.
