Will Orbis be the next PlayStation video game console?
An obvious omission at E3 2012 was news about the next generation video game consoles that will replace the Xbox 360 and the PlayStation 3. In fact, at Microsoft's press conference the announcer tooted that Xbox 360 was the biggest selling video game console worldwide, with no mention of what is ahead for the next Xbox.
Will there be an Xbox 720 or a new Xbox?
Microsoft and Sony have vested interest in avoiding talk about their next generation of video game consoles. The culprit? Money -- in the millions -- spent to market their current big blockbuster video games out for the Xbox 360 and the PS3. Microsoft is preparing to launch its biggest video game ever, Halo 4. With even a whisper about the next Xbox, sales of the video game could be scuttled. Sony appears to be concentrating on getting out of its money crunch by profiting on the current PS 3 as much as possible.
WII U, only new hardware at E3
Instead of talking about the next generation of video consoles, attention was diverted to the video games coming out for the new WII U, which will be available holiday season, 2012.
Many gamers think the next generation of video game consoles will be introduced in 2013. With Microsoft and Sony being mum about consoles at E3 2012, we will just have to wait and see.
