Disclaimer: The below is my review for the Megan Fox Midnight in the Switchgrass movie trailer and not the complete movie. The complete movie is scheduled to be released on July 23, 2021.

Introduction to the Megan Fox Midnight in the Switchgrass Movie Trailer Review

People have been saying that this movie trailer essentially shows the complete film -- so there is practically no need to see the movie when it is released on July 23, 2021. Therefore I decided to review this trailer just as if I was reviewing the complete movie. Check back later for a review of the movie when it is released to the viewing audience. Nothing new here folks. Move on. In other words, the plot is so familiar, there is really no suspense whatsoever as to what transpires during the movie. Specifically, there is a serial killer on the loose, destroying young women, some of whom may not fit the “moral” standard of the criminal. One by one they become victims and succumb to being destroyed.

Megan Fox enters the scenario and plays her typical role of the “pretty girl” used to entice the criminal. However, unbeknownst to him, she is an undercover detective or police officer, posing as bait to capture the criminal.

Megan Fox is not the only big name actor in this movie trailer.  Another big name -- Bruce Willis makes appearances as well.

However there is a catch. Bruce Willis is in the fim, but he is more on the side lines than front and center. Who knew that the actor once known for huge blockbuster type Die Hard films would one day lose his limelight. He takes second or third billing behind the other actors -- namely, the actor, Megan Fox.

The good news is in this film, he is doing more than just  lending his name to the movie credits.  Bruce Willis actually seems to have speaking parts in this movie trailer.

Also in the movie trailer, Megan Fox Midnight in the Switchgrass, is Machine Gun Kelly, who I found out is dating the recently separated -- Megan Fox -- outside of the film.

Ambiguous Acting by Megan Fox in Midnight in the Switchgrass Movie Trailer

In one of the scenes in the movie trailer, Megan Fox is seen cowering behind a couch as the criminal is in the same room talking to an elderly woman. She appears to be really frightened in this scene. However fast forward a few scenes later and she is seen fighting back aggressively without a hint of fear. I think action-wise, she needs to determine if she is afraid or not afraid of the criminal instead of sending mixed signals.

Megan Fox is Typecast in the Movie Trailer Midnight in the Switchgrass

Did you know that Megan Fox has gone on record to say that she is against being typecasted because of her attractive looks?  I think she showed this by accepting and doing a fine job acting as the leader of a rescue group in the movie, Rogue-- in which she starred.

However, in just a blink of an eye, she seems to be back in the groove she was trying to get out of. This is obvious in the movie trailer when once again she is playing a role where she is complimented for her looks.  I guess she may have to accept the fact that  her looks could very well determine whether or not she gets a part in a film.

Kudos for whoever came up with the name of this movie -- Midnight in the Switchgrass -- which I must admit has a nice ring to it. This may be all well and good; however, the question is whether or not this movie will be worth watching.  

For die-hard (Bruce Willis -- no pun intended) Megan Fox fans, it may be worth your time just to see your favorite actress in any movie.  As for the rest of us -- I guess we will just have to wait and see the complete film before we pass judgement on the movie -- Megan Fox Midnight in the Switchgrass.

Introduction to the Army of the Dead Movie Review

After the hype surrounding the movie, Army of the Dead, I initially placed this Netflix movie on my “must-see” list. Similar to me, you may have seen some zombie movies in the past and either enjoyed them or felt like you wasted your time watching them. How did Zack Snyder’s Army of the Dead movie fare with me? Check out my  review of the Army of the Dead movie to find out.

Before watching the movie, I read a brief synopsis which indicated the plot involved a heist taking place in the midst of a city which had become overcome by zombies -- Las Vegas. I was curious as to how this heist was going to take place. To me, the main plot of the Army of the Dead movie was interesting. However, as I watched this film, my interest in this movie, including the various plots dwindled.

As stated above, the major plot was the heist, with subplots that included one of the characters trying to rescue a mother who was captured by the zombies. There is another subplot dealing with a relationship between zombies (go figure) as well which I  will discuss  in more detail below.

Realism of  the Army of the Dead Movie

Without spoilers, just in case you want to see the Army of the Dead movie -- I think that during the various events in the film, you will ask yourself quite a few questions about the validity and realism of some of the movie scenes. GIven the movie is about zombies whose existence is far from real life in and of itself -- there are situations in the movie that do not lend itself to what I would consider “common sense.”

The dramatic scenes in this movie all seem useless and unwarranted when you take into consideration the conclusion of the movie.  After sitting through this long movie -- 2 hours and 28 minutes in length to be exact, you may feel as if on second thought, maybe there is something else you should be doing instead of watching the movie, Army of the Dead. To be clear, I felt the same way.

Zombies Capabilities in the Army of the Dead Movie

Who knew? Apparently there is a breed of zombies that can think as well as strategize. Who would have thought that the storyline would follow the plight of these zombies so closely that there is a storyline involving them? This may be considered creative by some; however, I view giving the zombies feelings, emotions, etc., is a little too far fetched for me -- even if this is a movie.  

In fact, looking back on the movie, I think it was extra long because of the storyline of the unreal situations between two zombies -- which were actually part of the plot, as I alluded to above.

Skills of the Actors in the Army of the Dead Movie

In the Army of the Dead movie, you will probably notice instantly an actor that stood out from all the others relative to acting abilities. In fact, I would categorize her as the best actor in the whole movie. If you decide to  watch or even have already watched the Army of the Dead movie, take note of the actor-- Tig Notaro who plays the role of Marianne Peters, the helicopter pilot. Unfortunately, she does not have a large part in this film, but the parts she was in -- she made it worth your while to watch.

Regarding the worst actor -- there was none.  The rest of the acting crew all fell in a similar -- ok type acting category.

Little known fact:  Tig Notaro actually was a replacement actor in the film after the comedian Chis D’Elia was removed from the movie.

Assessment of the Army of the Dead Movie

In my opinion, the zombie movie, Army of the Dead did not gross me out as I expected, given what can be done with today’s special effects, etc.

Yes -- there were some scenes -- one in particular dealing with a zombie head -- that could have met the “gross” criteria -- but the scene lended itself more to having a dummy mannequin being destroyed instead of a zombie. 

On a positive note -- The visual and special effects movie staff did a good job of giving the movie the environmental effect of being in a zombie-infested Las Vegas -- So kudos to them.

Except for the acting skills of Tig Notaro as Marianne Peters, the helicopter pilot, I place the Army of the Dead Movie in my  movie “time wasted” category. After watching the movie, Army of the Dead -- You may do the same.

Introduction to the Kajillionaire Movie Review

If you would like to watch a human interest type movie with drama as well as a touch of  humor thrown in, you may want to check out the movie Kajillionaire. I found this movie streaming on Hulu categorized as a comedy. However, after I watched the complete film, I had second thoughts as to why it would be categorized as such.  Check out my Kajillionaire movie review to find out why.

Synopsis of the Kajillionaire Movie

The synopsis is true to the movie trailer which indicates the film, Kajillionaire is about a family of con artists consisting of a mother, father and daughter. Towards that end, most of the plot of Kajillionaire centered around how they managed to con people and who even at one point suspected others of being con artists.

Plot of the Kajillionaire Movie is More than Meets the Eye

As you watch the movie Kajillionaire from the beginning to the end, you may come to a different conclusion as to what this movie is about. At the center of the movie is who I would describe as the brooding daughter who seems unhappy most of the time. In fact, this character, Old Dolio Dyne as played by Evan Rachel Wood may pique your interest if you watch the Kajillionaire movie. In other words, you may want to find out more about her personal story.

Acting Abilities Displayed in the Kajillionaire Movie

The performances of the actors in the movie Kajillionaire were all noteworthy including performances by the academy award nominated actress Debra Winger as the mother in the family -- Theresa Dyne. The father was played by actor Richard Jenkins as Robert Dyne.

That being said, I think the stand-out actor was Evan Rachel Wood who played the role of the daughter, Old Dolio Dyne who I mentioned above.

Not only did she catch the essence of what it was like to play this role, but in my opinion she took her acting skills to another notch.  Her personna portrayed the unhappy daughter to a T.  You may find yourself wanting to yell at her to “Snap out of it!” as Cher did in the movie Moonstruck. But there is really no need to. You will find out why if you watch the movie Kajillionaire.

Without spoiling the movie, an event happens that opens her eyes as to what is really going on and, let's just say that she came to see the light.

By the way, an honorable mention for acting skills goes to the actress Gina Rodriguez, who played the part of  Melanie Whitacre as a sort of tag-along “friend” of the family.

Is the Kajillionaire Movie a Comedy or Drama?

Personally, I would categorize the movie as a drama with some comedic parts rather than a comedy per se. With the concentration of the movie on the Old Dolio Dyne character as played by Evan Rachel Wood -- the movie is leaning more toward not only drama but sort of a “dark drama” with comedic touches.

And yes, there are a few humorous parts, but on the other hand, there are some “lifetime movie” moments in the Kajillionaire movie as well.

Assessment Of the Kajillionaire Movie

Personally, I found this movie to be worth my time watching. Not only was the story interesting, to say the least, but it also was the right length at l hour and 46 minutes.  Also, the number of the characters in the movie was adequate for the story.  

Depending on how involved you get with the characters in the film, you may find yourself rooting for Evan Rachel Wood's character. Or you may just find this movie simply entertaining to watch.

Introduction to Angelina Jolie’s Those Who Wish Me Dead Movie

After Angelina Jolie’s long hiatus from movies, you may be curious if her latest film, Those Who Wish Me Dead was worth the wait. Even more importantly you may wonder exactly what the movie is all about and if you should watch it.  

As a prelude, there are a few spoilers in my movie review of Those Who Wish Me Dead, so if you plan to watch the film, either in the theater or on HBO Max, you may want to postpone checking out my review until you have seen the movie. By the way I watched the movie on HBO Max.

With that being said, I will answer the above inquiries and more in my movie review of Angelina Jolie’s film, Those Who Wish Me Dead.

Plot of Those Who Wish Me Dead Movie

First and foremost, the main plot does not center around Angelina Jolie’s character.  Instead it is about criminals destroying people who provided their analysis of forensic data in a criminal case.The forensic researchers are unfortunately eliminated one by one in addition to any witnesses the criminals encountered along the way.  

You may think initially that Angelina Jolie’s character is one of the researchers slated to be eliminated by the criminals. However, she is not. Instead, her backstory involves a subplot where as a firefighter she made a bad weather-related decision while fighting a huge fire. 

Unrealistic Events in Those Who Wish Me Dead Movie

The Those Who Wish Me Dead movie is based upon a novel by the same name so all the events are made up. This may be the case, but even a novel should have some remnant of realism -- which for the most part, it did not. Additionally, there were lots of holes in the movie plots as well.

Spoiler alerts:  Some  examples of disconnects to reality in the movie are:

--The criminals located the destination of the father and the son, as well as the exact time they would be on the road in order to set their traps. The movie did not show that the victims’ car had a tracking device attached to it.  

--A pregnant woman was able to fight off the criminals. They all survived the fight in this particular movie scene; however, unexplainably the criminals did not pursue the woman. 

--Angelina Jolie’s character was (unfortunately) punched in the face hard numerous times and there were no major signs of injuries to her face afterwards -- i.e. black eyes, swollen face,etc.

--The one remaining criminal walked toward the little boy while turning his back on Angelina Jolie’s character who he had just beaten up, but we all knew she would rise up and attack him from behind.

There are other unrealistic incidences, however, I will stop here.

Additionally, I was not a fan of a minor using profane language during the movie with the little boy singing a profanity-laced song in the film with the actress and mother, Angelina Jolie singing along.

Highlights of Those Who Wish Me Dead Movie

In my opinion, the high points of the movie dealt with the action scene visuals of the actress Angelina Jolie. I correlated part of her action scenes back to the iconic movie she starred in a while back, Lara Croft: Tomb Raider. She was even wearing an outfit similar to what the video game character Lara Croft would wear. 

The two Tomb Raider incidents occurred when she jumped down the rope from the house and the other time was when she slid down a hill while holding a hatchet. You may see the same connection between the actress and the video game character Lara Croft: Tomb Raider if you watch the movie, Those Who Wish Me Dead.

Assessment of Those Who Wish Me Dead Movie

To cut to the chase, Angelina Jolie’s movie, Those Who Wish Me Dead was not worth the wait. You may want to see this film out of curiosity, but you may not enjoy watching it. 

For clarity and to avoid being a “clickbait” title, the film should have been titled Those Who Wish Them Dead.  Since Angelina Jolie is the A-List actor in the movie, you are led to believe by the title, Those Who Wish Me Dead, that she would be the main character which she was not.

The main characters, in my opinion, were the two criminals who orchestrated and carried out the heinous crimes shown in the movie.  

The Those Who Wish Me Dead movie could have been improved by the story line revolving around either the criminals and these characters’ victims or the plight of Angelina Jolie’s actions after making the wrong decision during a huge fire -- not both.

The good news is that this is a film based on a novel so the movie is not to be taken seriously. 

After watching this movie, you may come to the same conclusion that I did, which is the precious time we spent watching the Those Who Wish Me Dead film -- is time that you and I will never get back.

Introduction to the Megan Fox Rogue Movie Review

It has been awhile since I’ve seen a Megan Fox movie. I watched the Transformers movie that she starred in when it was in the movie theaters awhile back. Since that time, Megan Fox has been in a number of movies, some may have been good, some may have been bad.  

When I happened to see that she was starring in an action movie called Rogue on Hulu, I decided to check it out. Did Megan Fox deliver in her role in the movie Rogue? Check out my movie review of Rogue to find out.

Plot of the Megan Fox Rogue Movie

In the Rogue movie, Megan Fox stars as the head of a rescue team set in Africa. She and a small group of men and 1 woman were out to rescue the governor’s daughter who had been captured by a villain criminal who had an army of men.

The subplot was that the team led by Megan Fox ‘s character had to deal with voracious lions who were described as going rogue after they escaped from captivity.

Acting Skills Displayed in the Megan Fox Rogue Movie

You may think the stand-out actor was Megan Fox since she is the main star in the movie. This was not the case. I think her acting skills were ok, but by far the stand-out actor in the movie Rogue was Sedanna Henna who played the part of  Pata who had to watch an unspeakable act being done. In my opinion, he did a good job of acting to show the anguish that he suffered when this happened.

However, Megan Fox did hold her own as the star of the action movie Rogue. I think she could have done a better job acting if she was properly directed in her role. Also, I noticed sometimes when she was yelling out orders, her facial expressions did not seem to change to match the tone of her voice.

Unrealistic Scenes in the Megan Fox Rogue Movie

There were quite a few scenes that were not realistic in the Rogue movie.  Spoiler Alert: In one scene, Megan Fox is having a soothing heart to heart talk with one of the trafficking victims as they hid from the enemy; however, the next second, she was barking orders at the victim in an unfriendly manner to the point of using profanity when the enemy arrived. 

Spoiler Alert: Other unrealistic movie scenes from the Rogue movie include Megan Fox managing to escape from being attacked by one of the lions, especially when she was hiding under a truck. The lion could have easily lowered itself to the amount of space underneath the car and attacked her -- that is -- if she was not the star of the movie. Of course, this did not happen.

Spoiler Alert: The most unrealistic scene in the movie was the appearance of a command station that seemed to appear out of nowhere and happened to be available for them as the group tried to escape the villains -- complete with a radio communications center.

There were a few other unrealistic scenes in the Rogue movie, but I will stop here.

Assessment of the Megan Fox Rogue Movie

I think it was a welcome change for Megan Fox to star in the action movie Rogue. The movie plot itself was not original since there are plenty of similar rescue movies of this nature. The Extraction movie starring Chris Helmsworth comes to mind since his character's mission, similar to Megan Fox’s was to save or rescue someone.

On a positive note, there were parts of the movie that had a good message. Specifically when the governor's daughter who was being trafficked, stated to another girl who was captured that they had to fight in order to survive.  In other words, I like that they were not going to act as victims at a certain point, but realized that they had to protect themselves somehow against the enemies.
