Introduction to Blackout: A Netflix Movie Review

 

I intended to watch the Blackout Netflix movie starring Josh Duhammel as Caine as soon as it was released. However, my Blackout Netflix movie-watching did not happen as soon as I planned. 

 

To make a long story short, eventually, I watched the Netflix movie, Blackout. Was I satisfied with the movie after I watched it. Did I regret not watching the Blackout Netflix movie sooner?

 

Even more importantly, should you take the time to watch the Netflix movie, Blackout?

Synopsis of Blackout Netflix Movie

 

The Blackout Netflix movie centers around Josh Duhammel as Caine who is the main character.  Josh Duhammel’s character has lost his memory and the movie storyline shows what happens to him when he did not have his memory.

 

On a positive note, Josh Duhammel's characteris  doctor assured him that eventually his memory would return. However, the problem is that in the interim, unsavory characters are chasing Josh Duhammel’s character with the intent to harm him. Even worse, Josh Duhammel's enemies are unknown to him. The enemies are after the silver suitcase that Josh Duhammel’s character had in his possession shortly before he lost his memory.

 

Action Scenes in Blackout Netflix Movie

 

The Blackout Netflix movie has a fair amount of action scenes. If you watch the Blackout Netflix movie, you will see chases, explosions etc. that are  usually part of an action movies' playbook.  

Realism in Blackout Netflix Movie

 

There were a few unrealistic scenes in the Blackout Netflix movie. For example, while Josh Duhammel’s character was in the hospital, he asked his visitors who they were iincluding his wife who he, of course, did not recognize due to his amnesia.

 

However, I thought it was strange that he was not curious about how he got to the hospital. He also did not seem concerned who the doctor was who was treating him – for instance, his name, medical credentials, etc.

 

Repetitive Scenes in the Blackout Netflix Movie

 

During the Blackout Netflix movie, you will see several scenes where Josh Duhammel’s character is being chased with the majority of the action taking place in the hospital when he was being treated. I think the Blackout Netflix movie would have kept my interest if the locations of the action scenes were more varied. This is especially true when I found out that Josh Duhammel's character's job is with a spy agency.

 

In other words if the locations of the action scenes changed from the hospital, the movie would have, in my opinion, been more enjoyable to watch. This is the case even though the Netflix Blackout movie is about an agent who lost his memory. To summarize, I think the writers could have chosen more exciting locations for the action scenes that took place in the Netflix movie, Blackout.

 

Suspense in the Blackout Netflix Movie

 

The above being said, there is low-key suspense in the Blackout Netflix movie. For example, you may wonder if Josh Duhammel’s character will get his memory back. You may also be curious about the contents of the briefcase that was in his possession shortly before Josh Duhammnel’s character lost his memory.  Even with this smidget of suspense, unfortunately, I’m unable to recommend you watch Blackout, if you expect to enjoy an entertaining action movie.

 

The saving grace of the Blackout  Netflix movie is that should you decide to watch it despite my movie review, the film will not take up too  much of your time – lasting 1 hour, 21 minutes.

 

As for me, I’m happy I prolonged watching the Blackout Netflix  movie. After finally watching the movie it looks like I was not missing much.

 

Assessment of the Blackout Netflix Movie

 

As I alluded to above,  I waited quite a while to watch the Blackout Netflix movie. Now after seeing the Netflix  movie, Blackout, I have no regrets in waiting to watch this film.  Reasons being the storyline to me was too simple, the actions were repetitive and there were no standout scenes in the Blackout Netflix movie that is worth talking about.

 

As a comparison, after watching  a Tom Cruise action movie, you may recall some of the stunts or in the case of the Top Gun:Maverickmovie, you may remember when Tom Cruise’s character took it upon himself to fly a plane along a dangerous mountainous route that he was teaching his students. This was daring on his part and one of the many memorable scenes in the Top Gun: Maverick movie.

 

In the case of the Blackout Netflix movie, I can unequivocally say that there are no standout moments in the film.
