Introduction to Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom Movie Review by Ms. H

Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom is a movie I believe you can pick up on even if you have not seen the previous movies.  In fact, the scenes I remember most about the last Jurassic Park movie is Chris Pratt’s character, Owen Grady training a dinosaur and how Nick Robinson’s character rode in a round clear rolling cylinder-like vehicle while being chased by dinosaurs. Nick Robinson as Zach Mitchell and a few other characters from the previous movie are not in Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom.

Dinosaurs in Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom Movie

Since the movie is about Jurassic Park, you would expect to see dinosaurs -- and lots of them. The face of Jurassic Park movie franchise, of course, is the actor Chris Pratt from the Guardians of the Galaxy movies.  The dinosaurs appear on the screen rather quickly, probably to catch your interest; however, there is a delay before Chris Pratt ‘s character shows up. He eventually does appear and almost becomes a second fiddle to his costar - Bryce Dallas Howard -- at least in the beginning of the movie. In my opinion, the movie would have fared better by bringinging Chris Pratt’s character to the screen earlier.

Plot of Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom Movie

Most movies have some sort of conflict or suspense to keep your interest.  Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom follows this movie formula to some degree. The initial plot seems to involve a group attempting to obtain a safe haven for dinosaurs. When you find out what the ultimate plot is, you may have to overlook the fact that it is far-fetched -- but remember-- this is a movie about dinosaurs.  For example, a certain event that involves auctioning dinosaurs probably could not actually happen, mainly because of the tremendous size of some of the dinosaurs. However, in the movie world, this is possible.

Spoiler Alert: There is a reveal in Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom about Isabella Sermon who plays the role of the granddaughter. If you look and listen carefully, you will notice one of the actors expose exactly who she is.  If Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom was not a movie about dinosaurs, this reveal would have stood out -- mainly because of the huge effect this “technology” would have had.  To give you a hint -- this technology has to do with cloning. I think the director downplayed this reveal relative to the granddaughter as well as the future prospect of this “technology” to keep your attention focused on the dinosaurs.

Acting Skills Displayed in Jurassic World: The Fallen Kingdom Movie

I think the acting skills of the actors, for the most part were adequate.  The actors were probably performing with a green screen background throughout  the majority of this movie -- especially where you see dinosaurs’ Computer Generated Imagery (CGI). That being said -- There were two actors who needed their acting skills polished -- Justice Smith as Franklin Webb who played the technician and Daniella Pineda who had the role of the doctor for the dinosaurs. Their acting chops or the lack thereof did not impact the entertainment value of the movie.

Assessment of Jurassic World: The Fallen Kingdom Movie

Overall, I was not overly impressed with this movie, and would categorize it as an “ok” type movie. However, Jurassic World: The Fallen Kingdom is a movie I think you should watch at least once if only to see the dinosaurs’ CGI.  If you are interested in an intriguing storyline or something different from what you’ve probably seen before -- this is not your movie. On the other hand, if you are looking for a movie with lots of dinosaurs’ CGI including dinosaur battles, you may want to check out this movie.  By the way, you may get a Movie Bill pamphlet about Jurassic World: The Fallen Kingdom at the ticket counter prior to seeing the movie -- which I thought was a nice gesture.

Rating of Jurassic World:  The Fallen Kingdom Movie

Based on a rating of 1 star to 5 stars with 5 stars being the best, I rate Jurassic World: The Fallen Kingdom 3 1/4 stars.
