Blindspot Season 3, Episode 2 -- A Ms. H TV Show Review

v1

Like the famous word from The Princess Bride movie, all I can say about Season 3, Episode 2 of Blindspot is "Inconceivable."  Looks like everybody including the enemies had more lines to say in this episode than the supposedly star of the show, Jaimie Alexander.  I wonder how she felt knowing that not only is she being relegated to a housewife with hardly any lines, but her appearances are being scaled down in her show -- slowly but surely.

The writer made sure that everyone had lines, even if they piggybacked off other peoples' lines.  It was obvious to me that he wanted the viewing audience to realize the focus of the show would not be on Jane Doe played by Jaimie Alexander and her mysterious tattoos, but would be focused on everything and anything else -- but her.

In this episode the focus was clearly on her brother, played by Luke Mitchell as Roman.  I must admit it was interesting the way the writer led the audience to believe that somehow her brother was going to take the high road when he had a one to one conversation with another male from a support meeting.  Spoiler Alert:  It was surprising when the interchange of caring conversation took a turn for the worst when the victim put too much trust in drinking what looked to be a regular beverage given to him by Roman -- who is obviously a low-life person.   Well, this devious character had quite a few lines and the whole show seems to be directed around him. This is being done to the dismay of Jaimie Alexander whose main purpose seems to be to explain her questionable outside liasons with her husband/FBI agent.  Instead of apologizing, she should have directed her energy to actively solve and fight crimes as an FBI agent. By the way, during this episode, her husband noticed something different about her.  Can you guess what it was?  Here's to the effect his exact question to her --  "Did you do something different with your hair?"  Really? This line was not necessary to move the story along.  By the way, she did have a lack-luster fight scene where she kicked, slapped and pushed an enemy around while the director made sure her partner's fighting skills were shown in a much more admirable, heroic light.

All in all, the story itself is becoming jagged pieces of jigsaw puzzles, where you really can't trust anyone; however, it is a far cry from being a show with a strong, female lead.  I'm anxious to see where the next episode will leave Jaimie Alexander, maybe resigning and staying home ready to apologize to her husband about the meal not being made while he was busy solving and fighting crimes.  Maybe the show won't go to this extreame -- but it looks to be headed in that direction.

Based on a rating of 1 star to 5 stars with 5 stars being the highest, I rate Blindspot Season 3, Episode 2, two stars.

This is Charlotte Free

Some celebrity names are household words like Angelina Jolie, Jennifer Anniston, Beyonce and the like.  Then there are many that seems to be waiting to make their mark, so to speak.  Introducing Charlotte Free.  If you have never heard the name, I'm sure it's not for her not wanting you to.  Charlotte Free has actually been an active model since at least 2010.  She has represented such products as Chanel and others.  You may also remember the creative perfume commercial that she starred in that was like a real-live video game, including levels, and of course, the infamous "Game Over."

Hopefully it is not game over for Charlotte Free in her modeling career.  She recently was featured in the Paris fashion show in 2016 and I'm sure there are many other projects waiting for her in the wings. In the meantime, you may be interested to know that she is from California and was actually discovered while playing video games in a video game arcade.  This is reminiscent of the model-actress Charlize Theron who was discovered in a bank in Los Angeles, California. This goes to show that you never know where you will be when opportunity knocks.

What Charlotte Free is up to these days?  Well, she seems to be keeping a low profile so not much to report as of yet.  Maybe Charlotte Free is waiting for her big break to get into movies and films like so many other models have done before her.  I guess we will have to just wait and see!

Blindspot Season 3, Episode 1 -- A Ms. H TV Show Review

x240 zWE

Blindspot starring Jaimie Alexander has returned to NBC for a third season, at a different day and time. It now airs Friday's at 8:00 p.m. ET in some areas on NBC. The episode I watched aired October 27, 2017.   While it may be too soon to tell if the new date/time slot is working out, from my viewpoint, the show has taken a needed and welcoming turn regarding the cast of characters. Gone are some of the characters that appeared in the first season of the show.  Remaining as the completely tattooed woman who later became a member of the FBI is the star of the show is Jamie Alexander.  Also remaining are other characters including her partner, an FBi agent who is now her husband and the father of her daughter. Also added was a character who seems to provice comic relief to the show.

There were an adequate mix of action and drama in this episode.  However, I must bring up a scene that was unrealistic where three of the office-type characters are seen captured and must overpower enemy guards to escape.  It's unbelievable that not only did they figure out numerous puzzles, but they also had the ability to physically overpower their enemies.  In my opinion, this feat is far-fetched but I guess it is possible in television-land.

I was skeptical if I would like this show as I watched episode 1 of Season 3, not knowing what to expect.  I had stopped watching previous episodes of the show for some time but decided to see what was happening in the 3rd season.  I must say that I was expecting Jaimie Alexander's character to be pushed even further in the background, even though the show should revolve around her.  To some extent, this did happen in this episode with her leaving her family due to there being a price on her head before her husband and partner joined her later. During the time of separation, it is an enigma if she longed to rejoin her family or exactly what her circumstances were..  There was a conversation between her husband/partner and Jamie Alexander about her feelings while they were apart; however, it is up in the air regarding what will happen next. In fact towards the end of the episode, the character who is acting as Jaimie Alexander's brother mentioned something that happened in Germany with her husband/partner that he would reveal to his sister -- as a threat -- almost like a cliff hanger.

I think It's a little early to tell if Jamie Alexander's character will be ushered forward as the main character and placed in the spotlight -- especially since it is her tattoos that form the basis of the show or if she will slip further in the background.  However, there was enough action, intrigue, mystery and adventure that I will probably watch other episodes and find out what happens next. As the saying goes -- "So far...so good."

Based on a rating of 1 star to 5 stars with 5 stars being the best, I rate Blindspot, Season 3, Episode One 2 1/2 stars.

The Catch:  A Ms. H Television Show Review

Disclaimer: The Catch television show review is mine alone and does not represent the views of http://www.allgames.com.

Introduction to The Catch:  A Ms. H Television Show Review

The Catch television show I watched recently on Monday, March 28, 2016 on ABC was actually a rerun. The Catch normally airs Thursdays on ABC.  However, I think in an attempt to get the audience viewers who originally stay on ABC after watching Dancing with the Stars  to see Castle, The Catch was placed in this new, temporary time slot.

The television show Castle is usually scheduled to follow Dancing with the Stars.  Personally, I do not watch Castle so I would not be the audience this show was trying to get.  However, since I was curious about The Catch, I decided to keep watching to find out what  it was all about. Previously I watched The Catch television show previews and I must say I was impressed this television show has a female lead who seemed to be somewhat of the action/investigative star who was not  merely a follower like some of the other female  characters in similar type television shows.

To make a long story short, I was not disappointed by this premiere episode of The Catch. Here’s my review to explain why I enjoyed watching The Catch.

Synopsis of The Catch Television Show

By this time, you may have or have not seen The Catch television show.  The storyline of  the show centers around Alice Vaughn played by Mireille Enos. She is a private investigator who is out to locate a Mr. X in the premiere episode.   After a series of incidences involving her meeting with Christopher Hall, played by actor Peter Krause, interesting events occur that cumulate with her trying to find out the true identity of this client.

The dilemma is by the time Alice Vaughn finds out who Christopher Hall really is -- He seemingly has “disappeared.”  The remainder of the show is almost a textbook detective/private investigative story -- where she ends up searching for him -- for more reasons than one.

Personal Involvement of the Characters in The Catch Television Show

Spoiler Alert. The main character, Alice Vaughn becomes involved romantically with Christopher Hall, who she finds out later is a con artist who unfortunately is not working alone. To add to the drama, Christopher Hall appears to  have a female boss who is also interested in him as well.

Reality of The Catch Television Show

To me, it seemed unlikely that after completing his con -- Christopher Hall would stay around the local area where he “disappeared” from and pretend to be yet  someone else.  In other words, he stays in the area  and as a con artist  steals the secrets of a new invention that is worth a lot of money.

There is an unexpected chance meeting between Christopher Hall and Alice Vaughn at an event and unrealistically -- they just stare at each other before, of course all the lights go out.

The question is was she trying to find him because she still had emotions for him, or if she was more intent on catching and  exposing him as the con artist that he is.

Assessment of The Catch Television Show

I like this show so far  because it stars a slightly older woman in this day and age when youthful actresses seem to be all the demand.  I also like the show has a diverse cast.

I plan to continue watching this show for now  to see what happens next.  Will this show be one that will keep my interest or will it evolve into a show that becomes not only predictable, but even worse -- more or less unrealistic? I guess time will tell.

Rating of The Catch Television Show

On a scale of one star  to five stars with one star being the lowest and five stars being the highest, I give the premiere episode of The Catch three stars.

Wonder Woman - Stripped of Super Powers?

wonder woman final trailer featuredIf Wonder Woman was stripped of her super powers, everyone and their mother would be talking about it.  In today’s internet world, this headline would be trending on twitter under the hashtag #NoSuperPowersWonderWoman.  Of course this is far from the truth; however, believe it or not, Wonder Woman was actually reduced to just a mere mortal back in the 1970’s.

I recently watched the docudrama William Marston and his Wonder Women, where at the end of the movie summary lines inferred that if not for Gloria Steinem and others speaking out in protest during that time -- Wonder Woman would probably still be without her super powers today.

Sometimes, unfortunately people have good intentions but tend to express them in the wrong way.  I found out that a man by the name of Mike Sekowsky thought he was actually doing Wonder Woman a favor by changing her from a powerful Amazon with superhero abilities to a  martial artist.  Looks like at the time there was a television show called the Avengers with a female spy.  Since this show was popular, Sekowsky probably thought changing Wonder Woman’s image to a woman without super powers would draw in the numbers.  It’s important to note that during this time period, a lot of societal upheavals were going on, including the issue of equal pay/ treatment of women, etc.  By the way, this argument is still fresh today. But I digress. He probably thought what better way to show support of women’s rights, etc. than by changing Wonder Woman to be like just about any other woman -- without super powers.  This, of course was a big fail.

wonderwoman191

As I alluded to earlier, I found out from my research that among other things, Sekowsky was trying to mimic a television show, The Avengers,  which starred a female spy without superpowers. However, the point he missed was that unlike Wonder Woman, the spy -- Diana Riggs who starred in The Avengers never had super powers in the first place. From reading the closing lines on the film, William Marston and his Wonder Women, I got the distinct impression that Wonder Woman was ceremoniously stripped of her powers due to the circumstances around her origin during the 1940s -- That is, until I checked into this further.

That being said, the “new” Wonder Woman without her super powers lasted only a few comic book issues. After the outrage from women during that time, Wonder Woman was dutifully given back her super powers as well as her outfit and everything that she had that made her a super hero.

wonder woman 1

There have been several reiterations of Wonder Woman, ranging from how she was created including the latest change of her outfit as worn by Gal Gadot on the record breaking movie Wonder Woman.  Just in case someone has the “bright” idea of stripping Wonder Woman of her powers again, be forewarned that this idea was a bad one years ago and would be an even worst one today. I’m aware that superhero storylines come and go and it’s fine with me if some qualities about Wonder Woman are changed. However, one attribute about Wonder Woman that must, and I repeat, must, stay in place  is her super powers.

I don’t think that’s too much to ask from those responsible for keeping Wonder Woman a superhero -- especially since she had to wait 75 years to get her own movie. Yes...That’s  right. She had to wait almost a century to get her own movie, unlike some other super heroes. However good things do come to those who wait.  At my last check, the spectacular movie Wonder Woman (with Wonder Woman's super powers in tact) has grossed over $779 million globally and counting!
