Halo Combat Evolved Anniversary is one of the most pre-ordered game at  the on-line division ordering section at some stores in recent history!  If you are a fan of combat games, there's still time for you to pre-order and receive a $10 bonus, which is the Master Chief avatar armor for the Xbox Live and the grunt funeral skull to activate a tank!

If you are unable to pre-order, the game will hit the stores as well as be available for purchase online beginning November 15, 2011!

Halo Combat Evolved Anniversary has been remastered in HD from the original game that debuted on the Xbox in 2001. This game helped to revolutionize the first-person shooter and introduced one of the most iconic science fiction universes of all time.

Article:  With the Help of a Video Game, Virtual Help for Families of Veterans

Happy Veterans Day!   Veterans Day is when  we honor those who are fighting or who have fought in wars to protect our Great Nation.  Not only do we honor those who are currently at war, but those who fought in wars in the far and not so far distant past.  Today is their day; however, I believe it would be fitting to recognize military heroes throughout the year as well! Veterans -- Thank you for your service!

I'm happy  to discuss a video game that is geared to help families of veterans who may be in need of help.  

The game is Family of Heroes which is  an interactive role playing game developed by Kognito targeted for families  to help communications with veterans returning from military deployments.

The video game lasts about an hour and follows three families who face different challenges.

Psychologist Barbara Van Dahlen who runs a veterans volunteer program called Give an Hour, states this game may not be the right method to help all families, but is a way to offer a variety of options to get information and training out to the affected families.

Ms. H's take:  I believe offering an interactive video game to help communication between families and veterans is to be applauded.  I agree with the V.A. officials who state the Family of Heroes interactive video game is not expected to take the place of other traditional programs such as face-to-face outreaches, help liines, support groups and other means to assist veterans and families of veterans who may be in need of help.

Video Games: Ultimate Marvel Vs Capcom 3 -- New Characters and More!

Marvel vs Capcom 3 -- Release Date November 15, 2011

The latest version of Marvel vs Capcom will be available November 15, 2011 for the Xbox 360 and Playstation 3.  Twelve (12) new legends will be added to the cast of characters, bringing the
total roster to 50! 

You can play the game using one of the most requested characters on the Capcom side -- Strider.

One of the major enhancements is the fans-requested spectator mode where you can watch live online matches.

Pre-order packs are available for Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3! Here are the pre-order packs being offered:

          --Game-Stop:  The Femme Fatale Pack with alternate costumes for  Morrigan, Chung Li, Storm and X23 
          --Amazon:  New Age of Heroes Pack with Strider, Cyber Akuma, Sentinel, and Doctor Doom
          --Best Buy:  Villains Pack comprised of C. Viper, Wesker, Super Skrull, and Modock

DLC characters you can purchase include Jill Valentine and Shuma Gorath.  In fact, by purchasing Jill Valentine and Shuma Gorath, you will receive their alternate costumes free -- on the house!

There is also a Costume 01 pack consisting of costumes for Dante, Chris Redfield, Ryu, Thor, Iron Man and Captain America.

I played a previous version of Marvel vs. Capcom online with other players, and I thoroughly enjoyed the game!  In my opinion the graphics were of top-notch quality, and the competitive play of the game made it even more fun to play!  If the new version is anythiing like the previous one, I believe you should enjoy the game play just as much as I did!

Article:  Video Game Makers' Profits Blowing Away Estimates

If you were asked to choose a business or company to invest in, would you choose the video game industry? According to the author, video games are billion dollar businesses worthy of the attention of any would be or current investor.

Of the many video game companies, the author chose to compare two  -- Electronics Arts vs. Activision. Games discussed were Electronic Arts' Battlefield 3 (pictured)  and Activision's Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3 (pictured).

Electronic Arts estimates that  Battlefield 3 sold 5 million copies globally during its first week.  Since launching the franchise in 2002, it is estimated Electronic Arts has sold 50 million games in this series globally.

By comparison, it is too early to make a call on the number of  units  of Activision's Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3 that will sell during its first week; however, based upon the midnight lineups and the past performance history, this game is expected to perform strongly.  Overall the franchise has sold 114 million units  since it began as a second world war simulator game on the PC in 2003.

Activision's Call of Duty is a key driver of the company's results, making up a third of the company's revenues, while Electronic Arts appears to be more spread out in its porfolios.

According to Todd Mitchell, analyst with Brean Murray Carret & Co. LLC in New York, investors should be cautious because video game stocks are highly seasonal, with most video companies losing money in the March and June quarters, breaking even in September and making their profits in December.

Regarding the most recent stock performance as of this printing, Electronic Arts' stock has risen 40% so far this year with revenues of $731 million in U.S. dollars, up from $631 million in U.S. dollars from the previous year.  Activision has earnings of 7 cents per share, on revenues of $754 million in U.S. dollars with a forecast of sales of $558 million, trading currently at $13 per share.

Ms. H's take.  I am interested to know how Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3 will fare against Battlefield 3 after a full week of release has passed!  Unfortunately, I do not have much to offer regarding investment advice except  if you are thinking of investing in any companies --  be very cautious, even if you are a risk taker!

Article:  Latest Call of Duty Video Game Breaks Sales Records

The numbers are in!  Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3 set a first day sales record, with a whopping  $400 million in sales in its first 24 hours in stores! In fact, Activision's video games sales of Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3 broke it's own first day sales record from last year when  Call of Duty Black Ops sold $360 million in sales on its first day of release.

The number of units sold of Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3?  6.4 million copies within its first 24 hours of release in the U.S. and U.K.!

Electronic Arts' Battlefield 3 also had good news regarding the number of units sold.  Battlefield 3 sold 5 million units within its first week of release -- making it the fastest selling game in Electronic Arts' history!

Ms. H's take:  I think the record breaking number of units sold as well as the sales of Call of Duty Modern Warfare on its first day of release is very impressive. Activision seemed to have been prepared by ensuring there were enough games available to satisfy the overwhelming demand for this game.

Based on  the first day's sales, it looks as if Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3 will be even more successful than its predecessor -- Call of Duty Black Ops!
