Link, video game character from The Legend of Zelda, Skyward Sword

Is there a video game character you would like to see as one of the top video game characters of all time? What major quality would you use as a basis for your ranking -- Bravery, Courage, Intelligence, Mastery of Skills, or some other reasons?

Here are the top 10 video game characters of all time by the Guiness Book of World Records.  Guiness actually listed the top 50 video game characters.  Of the 50, the top ten are listed below.

The results come from 13,000 respondents and the date of the survey was February 2011.

It is unknown if the respondents were a representative sample of the video game playing population -- which would add a measure of validity to the results.

As a disclaimer and editorial comment, video games including characters are always evolving, changing and being developed. 

You may have a video game character that you think should be on this list.  If so, you can construct your own personal list of top ten video game characters of all time.

Here are the top 10 video game characters as voted by the selected video game players and reported by the Guiness Book of World Records -- Starting with no. 10, and ending with the top video game character of all time as no. 1.

Forza Motorsport 4 New DLC will be released on December 6, 2011!

The sports car (pictured) is already available for play!

The latest downloadable content for Forza Motorsport 4, playable on the Xbox 360, will be released on December 6, 2011!

Dubbed the December IGN Pack, the DLC will feature the following 10 cars: 

     1.  2011 Monster Sport Suzuki SX4

     2.  2011 Mazda RX-8 R3

     3.  2011 Ford F-150 SVT Raptor

     4.  1967 Chevrolet Chevelle SS-396

     5.  1977 Ford Escort RS1800

     6.  1981 Volkswagen Scirocco S

     7.  1986 Alfa Romeo Spider Quadrifoglio Verde

     8.  1988 Pontiac Fiero GT

     9.  2010 Maserati GranTurismo MC GT4

    10. 1957 Maserati 300 S

Some of the cars from the above list are turbo-charged for speed --  which includes the 2011 Monster Sport Suzuki, and the 1957 Maserati 300 S!

How much is the DLC for Forza Motorsport 4?  The DLC is available for 560 Microsoft points which equates to about $7.00 in U.S. dollars. If you already purchased a Forza Motorsport 4 Season Pass, the pack will be available to you at no extra cost!

Battlefield 3 Downloadable Content --  Back to Karkand

This video game news is provided to you thanks to PlayStation Network's Twitter account which states:

      "BREAKING:  Battlefield 3 Back to Karkand DLC is coming exclusively to PSN this Tuesday, December 6th." 

The DLC is free if you purchased Battlefield 3 Limited Edition (shown below).  However, if you bought the regular Battlefield 3 game like I did, unfortunately you and I will have to pay 1200 Microsoft Points, the equivalent of $14.99 to get the DLC.

If you bought the Limited Edition Battlefield 3, the DLC is free! 

If you bought the game below, you will have to pay $14.99 for the DLC.

The DLC is purported to be available for Xbox 360 and PC a week after the PS3 launch; however, this information has not been confirmed.

Here's what to expect: The pack will include 4 classic Battlefield maps.  The streets are no longer clean, but are filled with debris, and trash -- a starsk contrast to the previous environment.  Furthermore, the cities are already under siege and have been hit drastically. 

Additionally, you will see entire buildings falling, and will have to use new tactics and strategies for Back to Karkand's classic maps!

The DLC will also feature Conquest Assault, which is a fast-paced assault game where one team rushes to take back a map's worth of capture points.

That's not all!  You will get three new vehicles, ten new weapons and much more!

Is the DLC worth the cost?  In my opinion, the DLC  is worth the cost and more!

You do not want to be left out on the sidelines (without the DLC), while others are on the main playing field (with the DLC).  You may want to follow my lead and get the DLC when it comes out!

Take it from Ms. H -- Money laid out for Battlefield 3 Back to Karkand DLC looks to be money well spent!

Uncharted 3 Patch 1.02  released.

Patch 1.02 for Uncharted 3 has been released by Naughty Dog.  The patch adds the missing blur effect for the single player mode and fixes a bug in the game's "flipped mode."

The patch also adds alternate aim settings to the camera options as well as a cutscene viewer in the single player mode and bonuses menu respectively.

Changes in the multiplayer mode include medal streaks will no longer reset if the host migrates to another user, and  blindfire targeting has been adjusted. Another fix is the sprint turns.

The size of this patch is  purported to be relatively small, with the new aiming mechanics being one of the biggest part of the patch.

In my opinion, the positive side of patches is they are absolutely free, with no tangible cost involved to the video game purchaser!  Releasing this patch, I believe, shows the publisher/developer seems to have a handle on what needs to be fixed.  The other side of the coin, of course, is it would be nice for a video game to be a perfect gem -- from the get go!  They can only try!

 Characters from SoulCalibur V!

SoulCalibur V will be released for the Xbox 360 and PS 3 in the U.S. on January 31, 2012!

SoulCalibur V is categorized as a fighting game with lots of interesting characters, including guest characters or fighters from other games.  

Probably the most well known guest fighter coming to SoulCalibur V is UbiSoft's Assassin Creed's Ezio Auditore da Firenze.  He will be available  to play on both the Xbox 360 and PS3 versions of the game.

SoulCalibur V will be released with a Collector's Edition consisting of a soundtrack CD, behind the scenes video content, an art book and a special armor that will be downloadable!

I watched a demo of this game, and was impressed with the graphics!  If you like Street Fighter type games, you may want to add this game to the list of video games you plan to acquire in the New Year -- 2012!
